The Habitat Unit is prize winner in a competition on sustainable building design hold by the "Sto Foundation"
The prize amounts to Euro 10,000 and is awarded to the project "Life -Cycle in Buildings – Workshop for the reconstruction with reclaimed building materials in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, after the earthquake on January 12, 2010". The project was initiated and led by academic staff member Renato d'Alençon Castrillón M.Arch.

in Winter 2011/2012...
A student team, guided by Renato d'Alençon won the Haiti Ideas Challenge held by the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture (ACSA), the United States' Agency for International Development (USAID), and Howard University's School of Architecture and Design.
The challenge asked students and emerging professionals in the design disciplines of architecture, landscape architecture, and urban planning, among others, to design permanent solutions to rebuild the infrastructure, cities, neighborhoods and structures affected by the 2010 earthquake.
